Elephant & Castle and Meole Brace have won through to the final of the Tanner Cup, which will be held on Saturday 10th September.
Elephant & Castle beat Ludlow Castle by 20 chalks at Bayston Hill in what was a close match all the way. The Elephant got off to a great start with Paul Smith winning 21-5 and had two more winners to lead by 14 chalks after the first four. Ludlow came back well in the middle with Rich Harrington winning 21-11 and Dave Wilding 21-13 to lead by 6 chalks after eight games. Connor Whitehall’s 21-10 card for the Elephant, however, restored his team’s advantage and with Martin Young next off winning 21-4 they had an unassailable lead with two games left on the green.
On Severnside St Julians Meole beat Battlefield by 24 chalks. Both sides had two wins on the front but Dave Beer 21-9 and Kevin Perks 21-12 gave the Lions an eleven chalk advantage. Meole then took three games in the middle with Ian Riddell 21-4 and led by 12 after eight games. Victory was secured for the Bracers when Tom Dowling won 21-9 at No. 10 as the games were once again shared between the two teams.
